COVID-19 Lockdown Update - Management Committee Announcement
Posted by Wayne Simmonds on 20 May 2020
Following the Prime Minister’s statement on Sunday May 10th and subsequent publication of the UK Government’s COVID-19 Recovery Strategy last week, Holt bowls club has been working closely with Bowls England and Bowls Wiltshire to determine the best course of action.
We have been seeking clarification from all relevant parties, in order to publish the best operational guidance for our club and its members, which will ensure everyone is safe to play bowls.
In the interest of the safety of our members, the management committee has made the difficult decision, that the earliest the green will be open for practice or non-competitive bowls will be Wednesday July 1st 2020. However, this will depend on the government’s guidelines and the club being able to adhere to both UK government and Bowls England’s requirements to open.
Such guidance currently includes, but is not limited to;
- A way of maintaining social distancing between players,
- A online rink booking system,
- Access to sufficient hand and equipment sanitising,
- The introduction of comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring members safety and welfare is maintained.
This is going to take a considerable amount of work and we will communicate guidance as soon as it is practicable.
The management committee are therefore urging all members to refrain from visiting the club unless absolutely necessary. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our members at this time, and will contact them all with any future updates.
